Welcome to Simoonga School!

About the school

Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is located in Simoonga Village, 15 kilometers west of Livingstone City, Home to the Mighty Victoria Falls. There is overwhelming poverty in the village and most families are unable to afford the fees required to attend the local government school.

As a result, Thandizani School was founded as a community charity based initiative project to provide free quality education to the underprivileged and orphaned children. The name Thandizani was chosen because it means help or support. This means that the school needs help from well wishers in order to make it possible for the children to receive free quality learning that will make it possible for the children to have meaningful and productive  futures.

History

The school was established in 2015 in a modest structure with one teacher and 40 students. Today the school has nearly 400 students ranging in age from 3-6, they are spread among 9 classes ranging from preschool to grade 7, with an average of 30 to 40 students in each class.

Our school follows the Zambian National curriculum, but do not receive any financial or material support from the government.  We are funded solely by donations from visitors and other well-wishers.

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.
