Welcome to Simoonga School!

About the school

Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is located in the Simoonga Village, 15 kilometers west of Livingstone, home to the mighty Victoria Falls. There is overwhelming poverty in the village and most families are unable to afford the fees required to attend the government school.

As a result, Thandizani School was founded as a community based initiative project to provide an education to the underprivileged and orphaned children. The name Thandizani was chosen because it means help/support.

The school was established in 2015 in a modest structure with one teacher and 40 students. Today the school has nearly 400 students ranging in age from 3-16, they are divided among 9 classes ranging from preschool to grade 7 with an average of 40-50 students in each class.

Our teachers follow the Zambian curriculum, but do not receive any financial support from the government; we are funded solely by donations from visitors and other well-wishers.

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.
